Number overview
090-7021-5138 is reported as a precursor call for special fraud where the caller impersonates a police officer. Police do not normally call private citizens from a mobile-phone number.
Reported tactics
- The caller claims, "This is Officer X from Y Police Station," and impersonates a police officer
- The caller asserts your account is "being used in a crime" or that "your cash card needs to be verified"
- The caller asks to visit your home and tries to take possession of your cash card
- The caller extracts your PIN, swaps the card, and withdraws cash
Police officers will never ask for bank-account numbers or PINs over the phone. They also will not take possession of your cash card. A "police" call from a mobile-phone number is 100% a scam.
How to handle this call
Hang up immediately
Even when the caller claims to be police, a call from a mobile number is a scam. Hang up at once.
Verifying with the real police
If you're worried, call the main line of your nearest police station directly. Never call back the number that contacted you.
